Find & Forage
Find & Forage is about immersing in the forest—observing, listening, and gathering from the land. Local tribes who venture deep into the wilderness use freshly cut bamboo tubes as natural cooking vessels, stuffing them with rice, meat, or fish and placing them over an open fire—a simple yet ingenious technique woven into tribal cuisine.
Inspired by these self-contained vessels, I explored Bambusa tulda and uncovered a hollow chamber nestled between two nodes—an untouched space waiting to be revealed. By carefully carving the culm wall while preserving the cavity, I shaped two distinct long platters.
At its base, Bambusa tulda has an almost solid culm, perfect for sculpting. Using this dense material, I crafted miniature table pieces that reflect the rich diversity of medicinal plants and herbs thriving in the forest. Together, these pieces speak of abundance, self-sufficiency, and the deep connection between forest-dependent communities and the land that sustains them.
